New beginnings – or what?

I thought about a few things after coming home from Croatia.

I guess that Croatia was the only last thing standing in my way before… well, before my ‘other’ life started, you know? A new life without my old school, without my old classmates, without the old… me. Does that make sense? I have a whole list of things that I’ve just been waiting to change.

It’s little things. I want to read more books. Granted, this is something you can change at any given time. I ordered these books earlier this week (I think?) – I’ve been wanting to start reading the classics, like “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen. Also on that reading list is “Wuthering Heights” and “Jane Eyre”. (The other books are “Men At Arms” and “Witches Abroad” by Terry Pratchett. :P LOVE those books!)

I guess… I want to grow up! Not be a stiff adult kind of person, but a more mature version of me. ;) I want to make little changes to the way I dress (jeans and converse shoes are still going, but perhaps a more classy top that isn’t a hoodie is in order); the things I spend my time on, and most importantly: I want to clear out the clutter in my life (and my room) – also in that category are old friends who have oustayed their welcome. While they’re still lovely people, and I love them very much, I find nothing to gain from our friendship anymore. And I hate feeling guilty about not spending more time on friendships with people who, basically, I have no interest in seeing anymore.
Though, during these times of my life, I always hide away for a month or two before going back into the world. Just to get things under control and figure out what I really want to do and who I really want to see.

Oh. And of course. I want to knit more. ;) And knit things with a purpose, not just because I’ve got the yarn for it and the gauge happens to match! I’ve started too many things because “eh.. I’ve got nothing else to do” instead of really thinking about what I’d get out of the project – learn new techniques? A useful garment? Something practical/pretty/funny?

I’ve decided to try out new things – like I found out there’s a SnB going on in a yarn shop in Århus, and I’m going to go some day. Soon. And I’ll meet new people. And new knitters! The first knitters that’s not grandma. ;)
I’d also like getting a new hobby, like taking belly dancing back up, or perhaps trying something completely new and different. Go try out some new things, see if they’re ‘me’.

This next year is going to be interesting. :)

I know what you mean – the more mature thing at least. Not that I want to grow up, but just be a little more adult…less teenager-ish!
(yay, we can read Pride and Prejudice together! Maybe you can explain why people like it to me!?)
